8/11/2021 (Permalink)

Raindrops sit on a window, obscuring the view outside. We respond to storm damage emergencies 24-hours a day in Miami-Dade County.

Did you know that Miami Beach reports thunderstorms about eighty days each year on average? These storms can be strong and come with frequent lightning and very heavy rain. SERVPRO® of Miami Beach responds to storm damage emergencies throughout the year and offer these thunderstorm safety tips from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA):

  • If the sky looks threatening or if you hear thunder, get inside a safe place immediately
  • Once inside, avoid contact with corded phones, electrical equipment, plumbing, and windows and doors
  • Wait thirty minutes after the last lightning or thunder before going back outside
  • Remember, it is your behavior when thunderstorms are in the area that determines your personal risk of being struck by lightning. When thunder roars, go indoors!

Lightning victims

  • If someone is struck by lightning, they may need immediate medical attention
  • Lightning victims for not carry an electrical charge and are safe to touch
